Black and White

Some black and white shots I took with my twin lens reflex camera.

My sister at the hedge maze.

I love the accidents I get using film.

Idea 11 – 15

Idea #11: Make Still Warm include internet curation and take Not The Same Backwards down to simply images. Not sure about continuing with Still Warm or reworking it into another project.

Idea #12: For a photographic scene I have in mind, use paper cutout snow flakes, and maybe even a garland from branch to branch to dress the set.

Idea #13: (Came up with this one while trying to fall asleep.) Instead of trying to figure out whether to paint or transfer photographss onto the skull for the exhibition, Cover the skull in fake grass. I looked it up – I should be able to get this at a war games model shop!

Idea #14: Don’t completely coat the skull, first try painting the fake grass into a decorative pattern on the skull.

Idea #15: Fake snow set dressing possibilities: shredded coconut, laundry flakes, instant potato flakes, cotton wool, bean bag beans. Put some glitter in, or sequins so they catch the light. White craft paint mixed with glitter and sand to put onto branches – or just go shopping for christmas decorations.

Cafe Lua First Time

Café Lua is running an art competition inviting submissions on the theme “The First Time.” I got together with competition organiser Eff Pan to make this promotional film. I helped out with interviewing and cinematography and my favourite thing (not): approaching strangers to ask them to be on camera. But I mostly left that to Eff.  Takes me back to my radio vox pop days – oh the pain of rejection! The photo above is of a tiny coffee the baristas made while we were there. That cup was about the size of a 10c coin!

Now I just have to get started on my entry! I’m pretty excited about reenacting the first time I have in mind. (Stop it – it’s totally innocent.)

Competition details:
Entry is free and you can win up to $375 worth of art supplies vouchers and the top six artists will have their work exhibited in Café Lua for four weeks. Highly commended submissions will get to have their work featured exclusively in a slide show that will be playing on the Café Lua flat screen tv.

Entries must be A4 or smaller (including framing) and can be in the form of illustration, photography, typography… or pretty much any medium which can be hung onto the Café Lua art wall.

Send your visual response to art@cafelua.com by Tuesday November 15th and come along to the launch party at Café Lua on Friday December 2nd.

Ideas 5 to 10

Idea #5:  A monthly meet up with my creative friends to show our latest projects and bounce ideas off each other.

Idea #6:  Dye the tip of my fringe black.

Idea #7:  Baked goods as an engagement present?

Idea #8:  Lemon water to start the day for at least a week.

Idea #9:  An online exhibition, which is screened based, but encourages people to host the exhibition simultaneously on computers in spaces such as Internet cafes, art galleries, museums, bars. Visit the exhibition url and there would be a loop of all the curated work. Gifs, films, animations etc. Inspired by Bring Your Own Beamer and Speed Shows.

Idea #10:  Kiteboarding could be the sport for me (Not based on any experience).
